Pearls

Ephesians 1:18 I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance IN the saints...

Matthew 13:44 The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.

Matthew 10:29 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny ? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

I feel like that part of Ephesians was illuminated like a sky full of fireworks for me the other night. The passage refers to us, the saints, as God's inheritance. He considers us something to be cherished. Thinking about a lot of the things Jesus said when compared to that take on a whole new life. I think God tests us to produce faith and trust in us and that to him is the pearl of greatest price. We are a pearl hidden in a field. If you just glance at it you don't see it but God peers into the very core of who we are and sees value and worth. He sees things not as man sees them. Let's be thankful.

Sleeping Giant

I think this is my new favorite band. I had heard good things but then actually listening to their music. There is an earnestness and a sincerity and an uncompromising message that I really like. Doesn't really sounds like much else of what I listen to now, but still think it's pretty awesome.

Free stuffs

So I recorded an EP in May/June under the name "Traveling By Sea", with the help of some friends/bandmates. It's a small collection a few new songs I wrote, and a couple old.

Thanks to Zac Schmidt for recording, mixing, and mastering this, and Chad Wahlbrink for doing some vocal tracking!

You can download it for free or donate a little bit if you feel the need!

Through a glass

"The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming—not the realities themselves. For this reason it can never, by the same sacrifices repeated endlessly year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship. 2If it could, would they not have stopped being offered? For the worshipers would have been cleansed once for all, and would no longer have felt guilty for their sins. 3But those sacrifices are an annual reminder of sins..."
Hebrews 10:1-3

"If he were on earth, he would not be a priest, for there are already men who offer the gifts prescribed by the law. 5They serve at a sanctuary that is a copy and shadow of what is in heaven. This is why Moses was warned when he was about to build the tabernacle: "See to it that you make everything according to the pattern shown you on the mountain."[a] 6But the ministry Jesus has received is as superior to theirs as the covenant of which he is mediator is superior to the old one, and it is founded on better promises."
Hebrews8:4-6

"When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. 12Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known."
1 Corinthians 13:11-13

I'm thankful that all I see around me everyday is nothing but a taste of eternity and a shallow one at that. I'm grateful that I don't have to put my hope in things that are passing away. Only Jesus
